We discover just how intrusive Branwen is, how Ceri's Sight reveals a clue, how Gwylog seeks to confirm it, and how Cenred convinces Moddred that he must be courageous if the King is to acknowledge him as heir to Gundholm. There's scree slopes and bare rocks with shadows that generate a disconcerting atmosphere. Then, a blocked tunnel, gnawed human bones, and a shambling 'giant'. An increasingly incomprehensible Ceri surprises a foe, Branwen reveals her true form and Whispers, Cenred brings the house down, and Gwylog banishes the Fae behind the Darkness before showing mercy when brothers are recognized ... All that before an encounter on the road prompts a detour to be taken in pursuit of a Fae's Favour ...
