The crew arrives in Horizon, the city of the Pirate Lords. They begin to explore, with Nonius choosing to make up for a slight his captain in an unorthodox way. Cass meets the Groom of another ship, Vern learns something of local cults, and the Captain invests in future projects. Later Nonius and Vern witness Robles, a duelist with a ghost blade. Finally the Captain meets with one of his former Pirate Lord colleagues, who tentative agrees to aid with his plan of vengeance and restoration of his position.
